Following is our privacy policy for clients
Cape Counselling is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and this information explains how any data collected from you will be processed. The lawful basis for holding your data is your consent and to fulfill our contract with you.
We are holding four types of data
  • Contact data is held in order to contact you, or in case of an emergency, your named contact or GP.
  • Personal data is held to provide a safe and professional service to you. It is information you provided .
  • Counselling notes these are brief and anonymised records of counselling sessions .
  • Anonymised browsing data for statistical purposes if you visit www.capecounselling.co.uk
Contact and personal data might be shared with third parties if you are at risk of harm to yourself or others. Counselling notes would only be shared if ordered by a court of law to do so.
Personal data and counselling notes are stored separately and all data is stored electronically and password protected and /or encrypted. As soon as digitised, paper copies will be shredded.
Data will be stored for the period of time required by our insurance, currently 5 years and will be securely destroyed thereafter.
We use standard email and text messaging mainly for arranging appointments and as these services are typically not encrypted, we would not recommend to use any of these communication means for confidential content.
Our website does not use cookies and none of the links on our website to other providers constitute an endorsement. Our hosting provider might collect anonymous statistical usage data. Please refer to their data protection policies for more information (www.1and1.co.uk/terms-gtc/terms-privacy/)
You have the right at any time to request access to the data we hold about you and view and amend information. Unless we are legally obliged to hold this data you also have the right to have your data delete. Any request for access will be dealt with within the legal period of 1 month.
